- Mitt Romney announced his bid for the 2012 GOP nomination today in Stratham, New Hampshire. The Washington Post writes his announcement up here and the New York Times does so here.
- And Sarah Palin happened to show up in New Hampshire today, too. She made a pit stop in Massachusetts, though, where she hammered Mitt on Massachusetts healthcare.
- Moody's threatened the United States's credit rating.
- The clash between TTP fighters and the Pakistani state in Upper Dir featuring hundreds of TTP militants stretched on for 36 hours, led to at least 70 deaths, and resulted in the destruction of two schools. Reports indicate that Afghan Taliban were also engaged in the clashes--a confusing turn of events as Afghan Taliban (at least, the Afghan Taliban led by the Quetta Shura) generally do not target the Pakistani state.
